Litigation Support in High Profile Corporate Scandal Case

LOCATION: WASHINGTON, D.C.

Several law firms representative clients involved in recent corporate scandals needed to depose multiple witnesses in short order, with the public and press paying rapt attention along the way. Each witness yielded the attendance of over 20 of attorneys from law firms located around the country.

Attorneys needed to review the testimony in realtime, as did their colleagues and clients at office fronts. Alderson dedicated two account representatives certified in realtime technologies and proficient in streaming Internet feeds to the case. As required by Alderson standards, representatives arrived on site one hour prior to deposition, enabling them to ensure proper real time connections, and establishing the Internet realtime feed. Concerns were addressed immediately on site, and all equipment was tested prior to the start of the testimony. This method was followed for each witness.

International Trade Commission Testimony

LOCATION: TAIPEI, TAIWAN

The day before New Year’s Eve, a prestigious AmLaw 100 firm from Washington, D.C. contacted Alderson with a request to provide court reporting services in Tapei, Taiwan starting January 2, 2006, for two weeks of back-to-back depositions. The case involved an international patent and trademark investigation filed before the United States International Trade Commission, and testimony was being heard from several key executives from the Taiwanese textile company.

Alderson made arrangements to send a court reporter with long-standing history of working on domestic proceedings to Taiwan. The reporter, originally from Florida, had relocated to Osaka, Japan and was able to fly to Taiwan within a day’s notice, providing realtime services to all attorneys present. In addition, Alderson provided a videographer and an interpreter, both scheduled within a two-day period over the holiday weekend.

All transcripts, exhibits and videos were processed, including video synchronization and exhibit linking for an on time, five-business day delivery, enabling the client to meet its deadline and settle the matter.
